Benefits to Electronic Filing 1099 Forms
There is a lot of hope and wishful thinking when paper filing forms to the IRS. You print, stuff in an envelope and mail off to the IRS and
hope that the forms are accepted by the IRS. There are many concrete benefits to filing forms electronically instead of paper filing.
File Originals, Replacements, Corrections for Current or Prior Years...
Our software is setup to create originals, replacements, corrections and test files. You can file current or prior year information returns.
Mistakes happen...
The IRS FIRE System provides a 10 day period of time where you can delete a file with no questions. A file is considered 'good, not released'
after first review by the IRS and 10 days later the file will be silently released to the IRS. In the rush to prepare data, mistakes happen
and you have a 10-day window of time to make a file bad or delete a file on the IRS site. After 10 days, you need to submit corrections and
our software is setup to handle 1-step and 2-step corrections.
Files are processed faster with fewer errors
File status results are provided within 1-5 days. Our software does an excellent job of detecting errors before you transmit your data to the
IRS. If the file status does come back as BAD, the IRS site will list the errors associated with that file. Technical support can guide you in
preparing and efiling a replacement.
It's Secure...
Social security numbers (SSN) are confidential and a SSN play a significant role in linking records that contain sensitive information. With
our 1099 software, you can file directly to the IRS without ever sending the data to our service bureau.
It's Paperless...
You are exempt from using pre-printed forms. Copy B, C, 1 or 2 can be printed on plain paper with black ink. You can also convert to PDF and
fax or email Copy B to a recipient. Form 1096, which is the transmittal summary, is automatically generated and sent along with the 1099 data
you prepared.
It's Efficient...
File Status results will be emailed to you within 2-5 business days. You can login and check the file status at any time. When you print and mail
Copy A along with a 1096, the IRS never lets you know that the received and processed the file.
It's Flexible...
Copy A is typically due the beginning of March. Due dates are extended for electronically filed forms. You typically receive an extra month to
file electronically and you can log into the IRS FIRE System and request an additional month to transmit your data. The due dates for mailing
Copy B to recipients does not change.
Combined Federal/State Filing (CF/SF) Program
CF/SF is available for all participating states. You create one file that you can transmit to the IRS and any participating states that you select.
Receipt/Proof of Submission
The IRS will email you and post online a receipt showing when you transmitted your data and the file status. If the file is GOOD, your done and
the receipt is your proof that you submitted the data on time and successfully.
