The TPE1132 – Failed Due To Checksum Validation Error occurs in the IRS AIR system when the checksum validation of the submitted file fails. This error typically points to issues with the integrity or formatting of the file during preparation or transmission.
What is Checksum Validation?
Checksum validation ensures the integrity of a file by comparing a calculated checksum value of the file (submitted during the transmission process) against the checksum the IRS calculates upon receiving the file. If the two checksum values don’t match, the IRS rejects the file with a TPE1132 error.
Causes of TPE1132
- File Corruption:
- The file became corrupted during transmission due to network issues or incomplete uploads.
- Errors during compression or encryption caused data loss or modification.
- CheckSum Calculation Error:A mismatch between the checksum value calculated locally and the value sent to the IRS due to:
- An outdated or incompatible checksum algorithm.
- File alterations after checksum calculation but before submission. The file was accidentally modified (e.g., opened and saved) after checksum calculation or before transmission.
